Susanna's Day Out: FGI Career Day

Friday, November 13, 2009:
I had the honor of accompanying Susanna Negovan, editor-in-chief of Michigan Avenue Magazine, to the Fashion Group International Career Day at the Illinois Institute of Art-Chicago and the Holiday Inn Chicago Mart Plaza. A strong turnout of students from across the country joined together to network, ask questions and learn more about the industries they are passionate about. Ann Higby of Hatch PR and myself facilitated two sessions of talks with Susanna and a packed classroom full of students with a passion for fashion journalism. She spoke of her personal experiences and how her intelligent career choices have allowed her to reach great success. As one of my mentors, it was inspiring to have the opportunity to learn more about her journey. The job of an editor-in-chief is not an easy task, I assure you. Yet, it's a career that Susanna handles with grace and a sense of humor.

I've said it once and I'll say it again. I'm so proud to be a member of the team at Michigan Avenue. As graduation approaches in just less than 5 weeks, it seems I'm learning more than ever..

A bit ironic, isn't it?

Lynne: Nothing is better than a comment from Mom! I started this blog so she could see what I'm up to. Now, I just can't get enough!
