The Illinois Institute of Art-Chicago presented its annual FAME (Fashion and Media Extravaganza) Show at the Harris Theater this past Wednesday. I worked backstage before the afternoon show, helping organize clothes, models, and dressers. So many of my favorite teachers, students, and Chicago industry were there giving their time including Stephanie Schuller (ILIAC Instructor), Kevin Sullivan (ILIAC Meeting Planner, Owner: Kevin Sullivan Events), Kimber Hand, Paige Peterson (Stylist, The HAUTE Spot), Allison Henke (Student, ILIAC), Lawrence Mages (ILIAC Instructor), Susan Glick (Vice President, Women's Apparel at The Merchandise Mart), and many others.
I watched the rehearsal as Susan Glick guided the models and set up the choreography for the runway. The show began at noon and the theater was packed with high school attendees from around Chicago who waited to see the designs, films, and characters created by the college level students. The resulting show was a fabulous mix of fashion, art, and film--all designed and produced by the talented students at the Illinois Institute of Art-Chicago. A portion of the ticket proceeds went to benefit the EDMC Education Foundation, providing scholarships to students of ILIAC.
